We are very excited to welcome a new jewellery tutor to WFAC this Term 4 – artist and jeweller Teri Bartolo!

Originally trained as a sculptor, Teri’s practice evolved into jewellery through her love of working with objects that can be held and worn.

“I realised that jewellery making, especially wax work, was an extension of sculpture,” Teri says. “For me, it’s like working on mini sculptures.”

Her work is heavily inspired by nature and the sea, with beachcombing forming an important part of her creative process. Shells and other natural forms influence the shapes and textures of her handmade jewellery and wearable art.

“The very first shell necklace I made was with a shell that my mum had collected as a child,” she says. “Beachcombing, for me, connects me to my family.”

After six years living and practising in Glasgow, Teri moved to Perth in late 2025 and is looking forward to finding her place in Fremantle’s creative community.

“I love being in Freo and feel so inspired when I’m in the WFAC space,” she says. “I’m excited about anchoring myself here and re-establishing myself as an artist and maker.”

This Term 4, Teri joins WFAC’s community of artist-tutors, sharing her knowledge of jewellery making through hands-on classes designed to help students experiment with materials, techniques and their own ideas, alongside practising artists like Teri.
