Western Australia’s favourite makers market is back, bringing three days of handmade treasures, unexpected finds and festive fun to Fremantle.

From December 4–6, the lawns and gardens of Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre will come alive with 56 talented makers showcasing everything from original art and statement jewellery to ceramics, fashion, homewares, textiles and more. Celebrating its 47th year, Bazaar is the perfect place to uncover one-of-a-kind gifts, discover new favourites and meet the makers behind the work.

This year brings an exciting first, with Bazaar welcoming Rajan Bhimji Vankar, a fourth-generation Kutch weaver from Gujarat, India. Presented in collaboration with the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial (IOTA), his visit brings centuries-old weaving traditions to Fremantle, adding an international perspective to this celebration of handmade craft.

“Bazaar has been part of Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre’s story for 47 years, and its enduring appeal lies in the people and creativity that bring it to life,” says Sarah Wilkinson, Manager of Arts at the City of Fremantle. “There’s something special about meeting the person who created a piece, hearing the story behind their work and finding something you won’t see anywhere else. Bazaar is a chance to celebrate the incredible talent in our own backyard, discover something unexpected and connect with the creative community that makes WA so special.”

Among this year’s makers are:

Junko Kitamura – Japanese-born printmaker and mixed media artist creating nature-inspired prints, etchings and watercolours.

Side by Side – A collaboration between three local ceramic studios: Kura Studio, Do Pottery & Kaki Studio; making playful, refined pieces for the home.

Spinifex Hill Studio – Showcasing contemporary Aboriginal art by artists from across the Pilbara and beyond.

Belén Berganza – Creating handcrafted porcelain lamps, wind chimes, jewellery and objects inspired by nature and mindful living.

The ANJELMS Project– Fremantle-born label presenting ethically made clothing and traditional Indian craft and bold.

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre continues its commitment to nurturing emerging talent through its Makers Incubator Program, offering reduced stall fees, mentorship and support to artists in their first five years of practice. This year’s incubators include:

  • Potsbyr – Earthy, organic ceramics inspired by the natural beauty of Western Australia.
  • Rumble Pottery – One-of-a-kind, functional ceramics with whimsical forms and earthy textures.
  • CYR – Bold, colourful textiles and ceramics inspired by WA’s native flora, blending expressive patterns with playful storytelling.

Beyond the market stalls, visitors can enjoy a vibrant weekend program featuring:

  • Aperitivo Courtyard with oysters and bubbles on Friday night, accompanied by DJs
  • Open Studios and galleries open late on Friday.
  • Kutch Weaving Presentation with Rajan Bhimji Vankar
  • Special event adults classes on Friday night
  • Christmas-themed kids’ drop in art activities in the inner courtyard.
  • Additional adult art classes running throughout the weekend.
  • Buster the Freo Fun Bus, giving parents a chance for some child-free browsing.

Whether you’re searching for a thoughtful Christmas gift, discovering a new favourite artist or soaking up the festive atmosphere, Bazaar 2026 celebrates the makers, ideas and creative spirit that make WA special.
