Rachel Hull
Rachel Hull has been writing stories for as long as they can remember. As a folk singer/songwriter, pianist, visual artist, poet and music teacher from Boorloo, their writing themes explore courage, grief, the appreciation of little things, identity, disability experience and a strong connectedness with nature. They are inspired by many artists including Birdy and Billie Marten.
Double Entendre
In the golden era of pre-rental crisis Freo, some feral folk-musicians could be found creating heavy-wood dub-plates in a DIY popup speakeasy Balkan barbershop down on King William St. Every weekend, they’d emerge to charm local live music lovers at Clancy’s, La Trop and a few other well-known establishments, but after mysteriously drifting into deep time, Double Entendre left only fond memories and a couple of scratchy live bootlegs. But the WAMi Award winners who once shared stages with The Cat Empire, Bobby Alu and a proto-Tame Impala (who supported their EP launch in 2006) have now been summoned from the mists of history to bring their unbridled joy and energy to the people of Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre once again. Dust off those dancing feet and get on down for an original Freo folk-rock-jazz Valentines Day love-up!
