Presented with Perth Festival.
Loom of the Land brings together a vast body of work created by Western Australian photographer and artist Brad Rimmer. The exhibition features photography from his Wheatbelt trilogy Nowhere Near (2023), Nature Boy (2019) and Silence (2010). Rimmer’s personal response to place articulates what remains of the short European history that has dramatically altered the landscape, and the people that inhabit it.
Alongside these photographs, two new video works will premiere at WFAC, that breathe life into abandoned Wheatbelt town halls – once vibrant social hubs, the Tinder of their communities, now silent relics of another era. With evocative soundtracks composed and performed by Emily Barker and Mark Holdsworth, these works re imagine spaces of memory, connection and change.
