NET OF TIME is a long-term collaborative project by Munich-based artist Helen Britton and Perth-based artist Justine McKnight, that explores personal and cultural memory through wearable forms, talismans, sound and textile assemblages.

Developed over more than a decade of conversation, residencies and shared making, the project traces a material dialogue that stretches between Australia and Europe, connecting place, memory and lived experience.

NET OF TIME presents eight significant interconnected works made from gathered, altered and recombined garments, jewellery, shells, beads, natural material and salvaged textiles that the artists have accumulated over their friendship. In these works, the boundaries between adornment and clothing dissolve pieces become poetic hybrid forms that examine the weight of history.

Drawing on shared stories of migration, collecting, coastal landscapes and domestic histories, Britton and McKnight construct works that hold both intimacy and distance.

Premiered at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre, NET OF TIME offers a rare example of long-term interdisciplinary collaborative practice and reveals a rich material conversation between two artists whose practices have become deeply entangled across time, geography and friendship.
