Grievous Bodily Calm are wrapping up their national tour with a special hometown show at the Fremantle Arts Centre with guests Julia Wallace + Glimmer.

 

Their genre-blending signature instrumental sound and high energy live show infuses IDM, beat music and jazz improvisation with modern electronic production and has seen them support artists such as Tame Impala, Black Midi, The Avalanches, Hiatus Kaiyote, Pond and the legendary Mulatu Astatke, as well as numerous festival appearances and sold out

headline shows off the back of three acclaimed independent releases – Repel (2019), Arc (2020) & Cascades (2023). Noted praise from outlets includes Clash Magazine, COLORS, NME, Earmilk, Worldwide FM, The Lot Radio, Bandcamp Weekly, triple j and a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist selection.

 

Following a year of national touring – including standout performances at the Sydney Opera House, Bigsound, Dark Mofo, Panama Festival, Perth Festival & SXSW Sydney – the band released their third AIR Award nominated independent EP, Cascades, in 2023. Cascades is a dynamic seven song narrative with wide ranging instrumental, emotional and colour

palettes highlighting a significant step in the group’s craft and strength of statement. The EP is a meeting of jazz influenced, improvisational performance combined with bright, electronic instrumentation and production. The record won multiple West Australian Music Awards and received praise from Jazzwise, Pilerats (Album of the Week), RTRFM (Feature Release), Double J, 3RRFM Soundscapes Feature and notable editorial support across Spotify & Apple Music. Spirals was featured throughout gameplay on Fortnite.

 

Their latest single ’Sprig Theme’ is out now everywhere.
