Karen Rickman | All That is Solid

Using chairs, doors, rooms and cups as icons of a collective, historical memory, this body of work examines individual memory and the significance of personal effects and familiar spaces in our lives, especially in times of suffering and deprivation. The prints and drawings are a metaphor for the human condition through haunting images of domestic objects and spaces.

Karen Rickman's "Three (detail)" artwork features abstract black and white imagery of chairs and structures.
