Each term, Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre opens its studios to adults of all experience levels: whether you’re picking up an artform for the first time or returning to a long-lost practice.

Set inside our heritage studios, our art classes are designed for making, experimenting and getting a little bit lost in the process.

You can try something new in an afternoon or settle into a course that builds your skills over time, whatever suits your schedule and your curiosity. We have single-day workshops, evening classes after work, multi-week deep dives, and weekend intensives across painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, textiles, writing, jewellery, and – somehow – even more.

You’ll be learning alongside a community of fellow makers, guided by experienced tutors: established, exhibiting and award-winning artists who bring real-world practice into the studio.

We know stepping into a new environment can be intimidating, but feel assured that our classes leave you room to develop your own ideas at your own pace. Whether it’s getting your hands in clay, exploring colour and abstraction, experimenting with print techniques or finally starting that writing project, there’s room here to really figure out what artistic practice interests you, without pressure. Come for a class, stay for the process, and maybe leave with something you didn’t expect!
