Mayakowa Recording Studio

About the space

Mayakowa Studio is a dedicated recording and sound production space at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre. With a recording room and sound booth, it supports musicians, vocalists, storytellers and creative practitioners to develop and capture their work.

The studio offers a setting for music recording, podcasting, oral histories and other sound projects. Its connection to Malo Studio on the ground floor allows recording activities to extend across the two spaces, including projects involving participants who cannot access the first floor.

Mayakowa supports creative work from early experimentation through to production. Mayakowa means “echo” or “returning voice” in Noongar, reflecting the studio’s focus on recording, sound and storytelling.
