Malo Studio is an intimate ground-floor performance and creative development space at Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre. It offers artists and community groups a place for small performances, rehearsals and presentations, where they can test ideas, workshop new material and share work with a small audience.
Lighting, sound and audiovisual equipment support a range of activities. A link to Mayakowa Studio upstairs enables the room to be used for connected recording projects and provides a ground-floor recording option.
Malo connects creative development with opportunities to present work and engage with audiences. Malo means “shadow” in Noongar. The name reflects the room’s relationship with the recording studio directly above and the way the two spaces can work together.
