Wearable Sculptures for Older Kids – Friday 2 October

Teri Bartolo is an Australian artist and jeweller originally from Melbourne and now based in Perth. She holds a BA of Fine Arts in Sculpture from RMIT University and a Diploma of Jewellery and Object Design from Melbourne Polytechnic. Her jewellery-making journey began while studying at RMIT, where she developed a passion for the intricate and meticulous processes of gold and silversmithing. Teri went on to live and practise in Glasgow from 2020 to 2025, continuing to develop her jewellery practice and work within the local arts community.

Teri has been making jewellery for over 10 years and enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for jewellery making through hands-on teaching. She loves helping students develop their skills, experiment with materials and discover the satisfaction that comes from making something by hand. Her workshops are relaxed and encouraging, with a focus on building confidence while allowing students to explore their own creative ideas.

Inspired by nature, coastal landscapes and the act of beachcombing, Teri’s jewellery practice explores the organic forms, textures and details found along the coastline. She is drawn to discovering unusual shapes, surfaces and natural objects, and translating these qualities into wearable pieces. Working primarily with recycled precious metals, Teri uses casting and fabrication techniques to create handmade jewellery with a strong emphasis on form, texture and detail. Her pieces reflect the tactile qualities of the natural objects that inspire them, transforming elements of the coastline into considered, wearable objects.

Alongside her jewellery practice, Teri has experience facilitating creative workshops for a range of ages and abilities. She enjoys introducing students to jewellery-making processes and creating an environment where they can experiment and find their own creative approach. Her teaching encourages curiosity, creativity and confidence, while making jewellery accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
