About this Class
Explore the rich tonal possibilities of aquatint in this two-week mini course with artist and printmaker Vanessa Lombardo. Across two sessions, you’ll learn the fundamentals of this intaglio printmaking technique and discover how to create areas of tone and depth on an etching plate.
Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you’ll work through the aquatint process step by step, building an understanding of how different stages and techniques can be used to create a range of tonal effects. You’ll then apply these skills to develop your own tonal landscape print, creating a record of the depth and variety of tones achievable through aquatint.
This relaxed and practical mini course is an opportunity to build your etching skills, experiment with tonal variation and add aquatint to your future printmaking practice.

We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.
Should you, or the person you are enrolling for, have any other additional requirements, please include these details when booking. Should you wish to chat to one of our friendly team, feel free to contact Reception on 9432 9555 or email ArtsCentre@fremantle.wa.gov.au to discuss any individual needs.
