Tiny Brooch Workshop with Helen Britton

Join multidisciplinary artist Helen Britton for an intimate, hands-on workshop exploring the intersection of contemporary jewellery, material experimentation and artistic practice. Inspired by the NET OF TIME exhibition at WFAC, this unique gathering offers an opportunity to engage directly with Helen, gain insight into her creative process and exchange ideas through conversation and making.

Working with a selection of materials, including glass beads, repurposed plastic bottle tops, sequins, plastic beads and more, you will design and construct a tiny brooch of your own. Consider the possibilities of unexpected materials, explore composition and detail, and create with curiosity and intention.

We encourage participants to view the exhibition ahead of the workshop and arrive with a question for Helen, whether about her work, her materials, her approach to making or the ideas that inform her practice. These conversations will become part of the creative experience, offering a deeper connection between the exhibition, the artist and your own making.

The gallery will open at 9am, allowing time to experience NET OF TIME before the workshop. Please arrive by 9:50am to settle into the studio ahead of our 10am start. Leave with your personalised tiny brooch, and the experience of spending time in conversation and creative exchange with an extraordinary contemporary artist.

An intimate opportunity to look closely, think differently and make something unexpected.

Please wear closed toe shoes and tie up long hair. All materials included.

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.

We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.
