About the class
Explore the art of lost wax jewellery making from the first idea through to a finished piece in this new and expansive five week course with contemporary jeweller and artist Teri Bartolo.
With a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Diploma in Jewellery, Teri has more than 10 years experience of jewellery experience both practicing and teaching across Perth, Melbourne and Glasgow.
Over the first three weeks, Teri will introduce you to the materials and techniques used in lost wax jewellery making. You’ll learn about different types of jeweller’s wax and explore carving, shaping, building and texturing as you develop your own designs. You’ll also learn about mould making using Pinkysil and have the opportunity to incorporate selected gemstones into your pieces.
You’ll then have a short break while your wax pieces are sent away to be professionally cast in sterling silver. When you return to the studio for the final two weeks, Teri will guide you through the process of cleaning up, refining and finishing your cast pieces.
The five-week class is suitable for beginners as well as those with some jewellery-making experience who are interested in learning more about wax carving, mould making and lost wax casting techniques.
No previous jewellery-making experience is required.

What’s included
Your course fee includes everything you need to make up to two sterling silver pieces, with a combined maximum weight of 10g. This includes all waxes, materials and equipment, selected gemstones, professional casting of your pieces and tuition from Teri to clean up and finish your work after casting.
Additional pieces can be accommodated for an extra fee, which will be worked out individually depending on the piece and casting requirements. Due to casting fees, this class is exclusive to sterling silver.
Building Accessibility
Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.

Meet your tutor
Teri Bartolo
Teri Bartolo is an Australian artist and jeweller originally from Melbourne and now based in Perth. She holds a BA of Fine Arts in Sculpture from RMIT University and a Diploma of Jewellery and Object Design from Melbourne Polytechnic. Her jewellery-making journey began while studying at RMIT, where she developed a passion for the intricate and meticulous processes of gold and silversmithing. Teri went on to live and practise in Glasgow from 2020 to 2025, continuing to develop her jewellery practice and work within the local arts community.
Teri has been making jewellery for over 10 years and enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for jewellery making through hands-on teaching. She loves helping students develop their skills, experiment with materials and discover the satisfaction that comes from making something by hand. Her workshops are relaxed and encouraging, with a focus on building confidence while allowing students to explore their own creative ideas.
Inspired by nature, coastal landscapes and the act of beachcombing, Teri’s jewellery practice explores the organic forms, textures and details found along the coastline. She is drawn to discovering unusual shapes, surfaces and natural objects, and translating these qualities into wearable pieces. Working primarily with recycled precious metals, Teri uses casting and fabrication techniques to create handmade jewellery with a strong emphasis on form, texture and detail. Her pieces reflect the tactile qualities of the natural objects that inspire them, transforming elements of the coastline into considered, wearable objects.
Alongside her jewellery practice, Teri has experience facilitating creative workshops for a range of ages and abilities. She enjoys introducing students to jewellery-making processes and creating an environment where they can experiment and find their own creative approach. Her teaching encourages curiosity, creativity and confidence, while making jewellery accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
