With Miles Carpenter

NEW! Design and paint your beloved pet in a bold portrait format on canvas. Guided by experienced WA painter Miles Carpenter, you’ll learn how to transform a reference image into a vibrant acrylic painting while exploring composition, colour mixing, brush techniques, and layering processes to build depth and personality.

Participants will experiment with expressive and unconventional approaches to portrait design, capturing the unique character and charm of their creature in a fun and supportive studio environment. This workshop offers a creative introduction to the fundamentals of acrylic painting, suitable for beginners and emerging artists alike.

Please bring a printed image of your desired pet to use as a reference throughout the workshop.

What to bring:

  • A water bottle and snack or lunchbox for longer classes
  • A sunhat for any outdoor breaks
  • Please bring a printed image of your desired pet
  • All materials included.

What to wear:

  • Closed toed shoes
  • Clothes you don’t mind getting messy.

Drop off and Pick Up:

  • All parents/guardians need to drop off and pick up their child from the studio
  • No students will be permitted to leave without written confirmation by a parent/guardian.

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
