Yunju Park: Melpoflat

Melpoflat is a new work by Yunju Park, the 2023 Reciprocal Exchange Artist in Residence at FAC, in partnership with Incheon Art Platform, South Korea.

Showing from Fri 14-Sun 23 April in Studio 1, Melpoflat features 3D animation, 3D capture and ceramics. Taking its name from ‘Melpomene’, the Greek goddess of tragedy, and ‘Flat’, a flat surface in architecture, the work explores the afterlife where dead objects exist, and takes an optimistic attitude toward death left in reality.

Normally based between Seoul and Berlin, Yunju’s practice explores the political and semantic life of things after death, the realisation of the afterlife, and virtual architecture.
