Karen Casey | Dream Zone

Dream Zone is an installation that uses Melbourne artist Karen Casey’s pre-recorded brainwaves to create hypnotic, lattice-like patterns that morph with the undulations of brainwave frequencies. The patterns produced are reminiscent of various forms of sacred art and are intended to invite contemplation and draw the viewer into a deeply meditative state.

In 2010 Casey launched the Global Mind Project, an arts and cognitive neuroscience venture combining mind sciences research and digital technology, to create brainwave generated video art and live performance.

Casey pushes art’s technological limits, questioning what happens if the need for mechanical processes is eliminated and, instead, we simply allow our thoughts to creatively manifest through technology.
