Gosia Wlodarczak, internationally renowned artist and 2014 FAC Print Award winner, will draw directly onto the walls of the Kathleen O’Connor Gallery in a three-week endurance performance from Friday 23 September to Sunday 16 October. Closeted and isolated inside the gallery, Wlodarczak will draw in a state of sensory deprivation. Viewers will be able to watch the artist’s progress via a screen outside the gallery. On Sunday 16 October, Wlodarczak will leave the room at 4pm and visitors will be invited inside to view the completed work. The installation will be open to the public the following day.

Born in Poland, Wlodarczak arrived in Australia in 1996. She now lives in Melbourne and works in Australia and internationally. Drawing is the basis of her practice, extending towards performance, interactive situations, installation, sound, photography and moving-collage – a process she refers to as transdisciplinary drawing.

Wlodarczak has held over 50 solo exhibitions and 38 performances in Australia and internationally including the recent Frost Drawings for MSK Ghent Museum of Fine Arts, Belgium and the National Museum in Szczecin, Poland. She was also included in the 5th Moscow Biennale and Singapore Biennale 2011.
