About this class

Join ceramic artist Alida Cappelletta for a creative and relaxing one-day workshop where you’ll design and make your very own breakfast set using BRT clay. You’ll pinch a one-of-a-kind cup with a handle, craft a bowl and side plate using a slab roller and moulds, and complete the set with a handmade clay spoon.

Or, if you have your own idea for a free form sculptural cheese platter, mug, or other unique piece, Alida is happy to support you to bring your handbuilding creation to life.

After the workshop, FAC will take care of firing and glazing your creations, ready for you to enjoy at home.

No experience needed, just bring your creativity and a willingness to play with clay.

Building Accessibility

We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.

Should you, or the person you are enrolling for, have any other additional requirements, please include these details when booking. Should you wish to chat to one of our friendly team, feel free to contact Reception on 9432 9555 or email ArtsCentre@fremantle.wa.gov.au to discuss any individual needs.

Alida Cappelletta

Alida Cappelletta is a contemporary jeweller and ceramic artists based in Perth. She holds a degree in Jewellery and Metal from Sydney College of the Arts and later expanded her skills with further study in Gold and Silversmithing at RMIT. Her creative journey began with a background in painting at Curtin University, which continues to inform her distinctive visual style.

Alida has been tutoring jewellery-making for over 15 years and continues to enjoy the dynamic exchange that teaching brings. She values the opportunity to pass on skills while also finding inspiration in her students’ creativity and fresh perspectives.

Inspired by texture, form and the rhythm of making by hand. Her work explores the contrast between rustic surfaces and structured forms, resulting in tactile, wearable and functional pieces. Her practice is rooted in a curiosity for process and materials, often leading her to experiment with new techniques to develop contemporary, wearable pieces.

Alongside her jewellery practice, Alida also creates functional ceramics, through hand building techniques. These raw, tactile forms carry the subtle imprint of the maker and reflect her ongoing interest in the beauty of the handmade. She has conducted numerous hand building clay workshops, where she shares her approach to working with clay and encourages others to discover the quiet satisfaction of shaping forms by hand.
