Afterschool Art Classes: Digital Design and Animation

About the class

Bring drawings to life in this exciting afterschool animation course! Students will explore the fundamentals of 2D animation and learn how animators create movement, personality and expression in their characters.

Through a series of engaging weekly projects, based on the 12 Principles of Animation, students will discover key animation techniques while building their drawing and storytelling skills. Starting with simple exercises such as a bouncing ball and progressing to more complex movement like fire and character animation, each week introduces new creative challenges.

In the final project, students will create their own short animated sequence, putting their new skills into practice and bringing a character to life on screen. Perfect for young artists who want to get started in the wild world of animation!

About Procreate
Procreate is a popular digital art and illustration app for iPad. It is purchased with a one-off fee (approximately $20 AUD) and does not require an ongoing subscription. Students will use Procreate throughout the course to create artwork and animations.

What to bring:

• A water bottle and snack
• An iPad with Procreate
• An Apple Pencil (if you have one and like to use it).

Drop off and Pick Up:

• All parents/guardians need to drop off and pick up their child from the studio
• No students will be permitted to leave without written confirmation by a parent/guardian.

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
