The art of the fight – for freedom!

Fremantle has a long history of resistance, activism, protest and change-making for better futures.

Protests from in and around Fremantle have shaped our collective space and identity – held by people who have had a strong vision to stand up for what they believed was right, to make change to the status quo.

Juxtaposing existing and adapted works from leading Aboriginal artists Cole Baxter and Ilona McGuire with archival materials from Fremantle and around Australia, this powerful exhibition will build a picture of the First Nations led fight for freedom, justice and recognition. Featuring panel discussions and workshops the space created by Baxter and McGuire will become a forum for exploring the art of this fight.
