Sunday Music: Gemma Farrell Quintet & Kombi-A Train

Gemma Farrell Quintet

The Gemma Farrell Quintet (GFQ) is jazz saxophonist, composer and educator Gemma Farrell’s original jazz project. Their debut performance was for the Perth Jazz Society (PJS) at the Perth International Jazz Festival (PIJF) in 2015. They continue performing around Perth before launching their debut album in June 2018, “Organised Chaos”. Gemma is a PhD candidate and lectures in jazz studies at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and leads the Young Women in Jazz program for the West Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra. A beautiful fusion of jazz sounds for your Sunday arvo.

Kombi-A Train

Kombi-A Train is Psychedelic-Peruvian-Cumbia band of talented and creative musicians who have been performing together through various projects and lineups since 2016. The original side of the band started in 2021 and it is soon to release its first new album. The music of Kombi-A Train is heavily influenced by Peruvian music infused with Latin American rhythms and styles, Jazz, Reggae, Afro, Funk and psychedelic Rock. Dance to it, groove to it!
