SHOWING AT MOORES BUILDING ART SPACE

Miryana Marr is a visual artist based in Perth, Western Australia, whose practice centres on abstract and semi-abstract painting. Her work is characterised by expressive use of colour, layered textures, and dynamic linear elements. While acrylics form the foundation of her paintings, she also integrates oils and mixed media to extend the range and depth of her visual language.

Marr draws inspiration from both her external environment and internal landscape, approaching painting as an intuitive, process-driven act. Themes and imagery arise organically, with each piece functioning as what she describes as a “reactive consequence of life”—a dialogue between presence, memory, emotion, and material.

Each painting is an original work created on artist-quality canvases made locally in Western Australia. The time invested in a piece varies widely depending on its scale, composition, and level of detail—some works are resolved within hours, while others unfold over months through sustained layering and refinement.

Through this evolving process, Marr seeks to evoke both vitality and stillness within the same surface. Her work invites viewers to pause, reflect, and engage with the subtle shifts of colour, gesture, and emotional resonance embedded in each piece.

Marr regularly exhibits in both solo and group exhibitions and continues to develop a distinctive body of work that reflects her ongoing exploration of abstraction and lived experience.
