WFAC After School Art Courses: Mobile Sculpture in Metalwork

In this hands-on 6-week course with Alida Cappeletta, students will design and craft their own metal sculptures, mobiles, or decorative dreamcatcher-style pieces. Guided by design principles such as line, shape, texture, balance, colour, and movement, each student will explore how art can express personal experience and creativity.

Students will learn essential metalworking and jewellery techniques including cutting, shaping, soldering, and assembling metal components. Using these skills alongside found or personal objects, they’ll create pieces that move, catch the light, and respond to air and touch, discovering the beauty of suspended form and motion.

This course is perfect for creative minds who love experimenting with metal, turning imagination into hands-on art, and making pieces that are both sculptural and dynamic.

Information for Parents:-

• Your child should wear an art shirt, old clothes or bring an apron/art smock as the ceramics courses can get particularly messy!
• Please send your child with a sunhat and sunscreen as we may take them outside for breaks. All breaks are supervised by the tutor or a member of FAC’s Creative Learning team
• Please ensure your child has water and a snack if required / desired
• Please sign the class list in the studio when you drop off and pick up your child. Children will not be permitted to leave the studio at the end of class without a parent/guardian
• All tutors and FAC Kids’ Classes staff hold valid Working with Children Checks
• All materials are included
