Shibori Sundays with Roberta Leary

Discover the art of Shibori and the magic of Procion dyeing in this 6-week hands-on course with Roberta Leary. Learn traditional resist techniques to create stunning, one-of-a-kind fabrics in a range of colours, including rich indigo, using natural fibres like cotton and linen.

Bring your own pieces — from fashion items to tablewares — and transform them with beautiful, unique patterns. Through this fascinating process, you’ll gain confidence in dyeing techniques and fall in love with the vibrant, textured results you can create.

Materials:

  •  A materials fee is included in the cost of the course
  • Calico/test material and 2 x 100% linen tea towel blanks will be provided
  • All additional fabric to be supplied by student (not needed for first class)

What to bring:

  • Apron
  • Sketchbook (A4 or A5)
  • Pencil, eraser, sharpener
  • Students will be required to purchase their own fabric for printing, this will be discussed in the first class
  • Students must wear appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes and tie up long hair for safety reasons
