In this hands-on workshop, students will design and create their own unique animal sculptural form, built on a sturdy foam base. They’ll learn how to construct an armature using flexible wire, then build up the shape with layers of aluminium foil and newspaper to add volume.
The sculpture will be finished with a layer of plaster bandage, which hardens as it dries to create a strong, durable form. Students will take their piece home in its natural white state, ready to paint and personalise once fully dry.
What to bring:
- A water bottle and snack or lunchbox for longer classes
- A sunhat for any outdoor breaks
- All materials included.
What to wear:
- Closed toed shoes
- Clothes you don’t mind getting messy.
Drop off and Pick Up:
- All parents/guardians need to drop off and pick up their child from the studio
- No students will be permitted to leave without written confirmation by a parent/guardian.
Building Accessibility
Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.
