Mothers Day Special: A Day on the Wheel: 10 May

With Finn Anderson

About the class

Curious about ceramics but not sure where to start? This hands-on workshop is the perfect introduction to the art of wheel throwing. Designed for complete beginners, you’ll learn the basics of working with clay on the pottery wheel in a relaxed and supportive environment.

With expert guidance from your tutor, you’ll get a feel for the materials, try your hand at shaping forms, and have fun discovering a new skill—no experience needed!

What to bring:

  • Notebook & pen
  • Apron
  • An old towel

Students must wear appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes and tie up long hair for safety reasons.

Firing & Glazing

Work made in this class will be fired after the session. Due to drying times and kiln scheduling, pieces will be ready for collection at a later date.

To complete your work, we encourage you to book into one of our stand alone glazing sessions. This is a great opportunity to return, choose your glaze colours and finish your pieces, making them ready to use, drink or eat from and enjoy at home.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, every mum, grandma or loved one attending the class will receive a small surprise treat from us.

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.

We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.

Should you, or the person you are enrolling for, have any other additional requirements, please include these details when booking. Should you wish to chat to one of our friendly team, feel free to contact Reception on 9432 9555 or email ArtsCentre@fremantle.wa.gov.au to discuss any individual needs.
