Discover the art of hand bookbinding in this inspiring one-day workshop. You’ll be guided step-by-step to create your own fully hand-bound artist book or diary, with opportunities to incorporate recycled or found materials such as old magazines, papers, fabrics, or artworks.
Learn how to curate old drawings, prints, or test pieces into a cohesive artist book, or design a completely unique diary from scratch. This workshop is a perfect way to breathe new life into artworks and materials that have been sitting in storage, transforming them into something beautiful and functional.
What to bring:
- Notebook & pen
- Apron
- Old drawings/paintings/prints/artworks, assorted recycled papers (magazines/books), scrap papers (paper doily/textured papers) – the more materials you have to work with the more exciting your book will be!
- Fabric for book covers (approx. 1 square metre)
- Students must wear appropriate clothing, closed-toe shoes and tie up long hair for safety reasons
