About the class

Join the wonderful Melissa Ellero in a 6-week course presenting an interactive, fun, and creative learning opportunity for children in our Ceramics Studio.

Students will develop their creative skills, problem solving and knowledge, and engage in process-led exploration in clay from making and decorating through to drying, firing, and glazing finished works that can be used at home, in the classroom, or gifted to friends and family.

Across the course, projects may include functional pieces like mugs, dishes or bowls, creative games, and opportunities to explore surface decoration and glazing techniques. Whether students are new or returning, projects can be adapted to suit their experience level and interests, with space for self-directed ideas and creative play. There is also the opportunity to develop a special piece for inclusion in an upcoming ceramics event as part of a Fremantle festival! Watch this space!

Students will also have the chance to share and reflect on their creations during a mini exhibition on the final day, with parents, guardians and caregivers encouraged to attend.

  • What to bring:
    • A water bottle and snack or lunchbox for longer classes
    • A sunhat for any outdoor breaks
    • All materials included.

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.

We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.
