About this Summer Special

Inspired by Joss Gregson’s Desire series (prints available in the WFAC shop), this playful summer special invites you to bring your favourite sweet treat and spend the day painting it.

Start the morning by visiting your favourite bakery or cafe (our favourites include Wild Bakery, Aunty Lucy’s Cakery, Common Bakery, Bittersweet or our own Plated) to pick up your treat—then bring it to class as your still life subject!

Working in acrylics, you will be guided through techniques of colour, composition, texture and paint application as you interpret your dessert.

While your cake will likely be gone by afternoon tea, you’ll go home with a vibrant painting, new knowledge and confidence in your creative process.

Acrylic paints and some brushes will be provided, but if you have your own paints or materials kit, we recommend you bring them along.

What to bring

• Your favourite sweet treat

• A canvas (size recommended: 40 × 40 cm or similar)

• Pack of Westart acrylic paint brushes (the tan set)

• Palette, water container and rags

Building Accessibility

Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
