Monoprint and Collagraph Print Making with Bina Butcher
About the class
Join artist Bina Butcher for an engaging 8-week printmaking workshop exploring the dynamic processes of monoprint and collagraph.
In this course, you’ll learn to create unique, one-of-a-kind prints through a variety of methods, focusing on expressive mark-making, layering, and rich textural effects. You’ll be guided through reductive and stencil monoprinting techniques, as well as building and printing collagraph plates using both traditional and found materials for inspiration.
Participants will become familiar with the print studio and equipment, including using an etching press, and gain practical skills in inking, wiping, and printing their own plates.
This workshop is suitable for beginners and for those looking to expand their printmaking practice in a creative, experimental, and collaborative environment.
What to bring
- For the first class students may want to bring along any texture materials such as lace or loose weave fabric, doilies, plant matter or anything they think might create an interesting textured print.
- Further materials to bring will be discussed in class, but will mostly be recycled or found materials.
Building Accessibility
Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.
