Landscape Painting in Acrylics (Thursday) with Joss Gregson
About the class
Explore the many facets of landscape painting in this dynamic course.
Discover techniques like Atmospheric Perspective to create depth, and learn how to use colour to bring your landscapes to life, potentially working with a limited palette. Experiment with different tools such as brushes, palette knives, texture mediums, and paint shapers.
Each week, you’ll have the chance to work with different source materials—one week may feature your own photographs, while another we’ll dive into a classic work of art, creating a realistic copy followed by an abstract interpretation.
A key highlight of the course will be an outdoor session, where we'll paint en plein air, capturing the beauty of the landscape in real-time.
Prerequisites
Some experience with acrylic paints is encouraged but not essential.
What to bring
- Paints: Titanium white, Prussian blue, burnt umber, cerulean blue, primary red, primary yellow, and arylamide yellow medium. Feel free to bring any other colours you enjoy using.
- Brushes: Tan Scholastic kit (five brushes), size 12 flat nylon or soft bristle brush
- Palette, plastic jar, rag
