Diddley Bow Making Workshop with Alexander Beetle

Immerse yourself in the creative world of diddley bow and homemade instrument making in this hands-on workshop for adults inspired by the Objet d’Art – Theo Koning and his Creative Self exhibition. Experience Theo Koning's playful approach to music and making in this two-hour workshop expertly led by artist Alexander Beetle. The diddley bow is a simple yet elegantly designed single-stringed instrument that functions as both a sculpture and a wonderfully noisy musical tool. Come along, make a diddley bow, and give it a twang!

No sculpture or musical experience necessary. Open to all artists, makers, and tinkerers. Materials are provided, but please bring along some of the following, if you can:

  • Funky tins with beautiful imagery (think Sirena Tuna, Ortiz Anchovy, or fancy biscuit tins)
  • Glass jars with interesting visual lustre or unusual shapes
  • Elegant sticks/old wooden rods
  • Small to medium lumps of wood with eye-catching appeal

All participants must wear covered footwear.

Places are strictly limited to 10 participants, and booking is essential. Please note we will take 15 registrations to ensure 10 participants on the day. The first 10 registrations are offered a place, and the remaining 5 are placed on a waitlist.
