WFAC After School Art Courses: Self Portraiture with Ben Crappsley
About the class
In this hands-on course, high school students from Year 7 to Year 10 will learn how to create a realistic self-portrait using colour pencils on illustration board. Working from a black-and-white photo reference, they’ll explore colour theory, shading techniques, and how to move from grey scale to full colour.
Using the grid reference method, students will learn how to accurately scale and draw their own features, then bring their portraits to life with imaginative and expressive colour schemes. Along the way, they'll build confidence in observation, drawing, and blending techniques.
This is a great class for young artists who love detail, colour, and self-expression. All skill levels welcome!
Information for Parents:
- Please sign the class list in the studio when you drop off and pick up your child. Children will not be permitted to leave the studio at the end of class without a parent/guardian

- Please ensure your child has water and a snack if required / desired
- All tutors and FAC Kids’ Classes staff hold valid Working with Children Checks

- All materials are included
Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre is a heritage-listed building with access limitations. While there are no lift facilities within the main building, the ceramics studio is wheelchair accessible.
We acknowledge these limitations and are committed to improving accessibility where possible. We continue to explore ways to make our programs more inclusive and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions.
