A Day of Shibori Dying with Roberta Leary
About the class
Dive into the vibrant world of Shibori in this fun and hands-on dyeing workshop!
Perfect for beginners and those looking to expand their textile skills, this session will teach you how to make and use Procion fibre-reactive dyes to achieve bold, brilliant colours that truly pop. You’ll explore the traditional Japanese art of Shibori—an ancient resist dyeing technique known for its striking patterns and expressive results.
Guided through a series of folding, binding, twisting and clamping methods, you’ll experiment with a beautiful palette of colours, including the ever-popular indigo blue. By the end of the day, you’ll walk away with a stunning collection of uniquely patterned fabrics—and the knowledge and confidence to continue dyeing at home.
What to bring:
- Apron
