Western Australia’s favourite makers market is back — bigger, brighter, and bursting with local talent.

From December 5–7, the Bazaar Makers Market transforms Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre’s lush lawns into a festive wonderland of creativity, featuring 50 of WA’s most exceptional artisans and designers. Now in its 46th year, this much-loved event is the ultimate destination for unique, handcrafted gifts — all locally made in Western Australia.

Marketgoers can explore an incredible array of art, homewares, fashion, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, woodwork, prints, toys, and more — each piece designed and crafted with care by local makers.

Bazaar has been part of Fremantle Arts Centre’s story since 1979,” says Sarah Wilkinson, Manager of Arts at the City of Fremantle. “It’s so much more than a market — it’s a community celebration and a chance to reconnect with the joy of thoughtful, local shopping. We’re especially excited to welcome 14 new stallholders and over a number who are returning after long hiatuses.”

Among this year’s standout stallholders are:

  • Joia Ellery (JOIA) – creating sculptural ceramic vessels defined by carved textures and elegant form.
  • Koro Brown (Koro Island) – transforming recycled silver and ocean treasures into sustainable jewellery inspired by WA’s coastline.
  • Stephanie Chandra (RŪPAHAUS) – an ethical fashion label celebrating Indonesian batik and natural dyes through slow-made, one-of-a-kind garments.
  • Turner + Turner – Heirloom timber homewares that are functional and long-lasting.
  • Emma Lashmar – Artisanal hand-blown glassware robustly made for everyday use.

WFAC continues its commitment to nurturing emerging talent through its Makers Incubator Program, offering waived stall fees, mentorship, and support to artists in their first five years of practice. This year’s incubators include:

  • Say PIRL – colourful genderless clothing featuring tactile Braille messages.
  • By imi – playful illustrations brought to life through stationery and design.
  • Possum Rose– Intuitive and contemporary Aboriginal artworks highlighting patterns in nature.
  • Symone Ishak – vibrant, ready-to-hang canvas artworks with themes of connection and solitude.

Beyond the market stalls, visitors can enjoy a vibrant weekend program featuring:

  • An exclusive Fremantle Press book launchRivers Flow: Reflections on the Songs of Archie Roach and Ruby Hunter on Friday night.
  • Open Studios and Curator Tours of Objet d’Art: Theo Koning and his Creative Self.
  • Live music on the Sunday to soundtrack your shopping.
  • Art classes for kids and Buster the Freo Fun Bus, giving parents a chance for some child-free browsing.
